Tutor Learning Initiative

The Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) is designed to support students whose learning has been disrupted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Initiative commenced in 2021 and will continue to be delivered in 2022.

The TLI enables schools across Victoria to engage qualified teachers as tutors to work with small groups of students and support their learning. The initiative is consistent with Australian and international evidence, which shows that small group tutoring is one of the most effective educational interventions available to support students to progress in their learning.

At Puckapunyal Primary School, the TLI is delivered by Sue Ranger. Sue predominantly works with small groups of up to 5 students at a time to deliver targeted extension and catch-up learning activities. Students enter the program with specific goals relating to their current performance in English and/or Mathematics and their progress is monitored over time.. Tutoring sessions complement the regular curriculum and support the lessons taking place in the classroom.

Students are identified for the TLI program through regular analysis of achievement data. If you have any questions about the TLI, please contact the TLI coordinator, Kahlia Evans at the school.
